A guide to some of the most common onboarding questions

Welcome to Velocity Global Contractor Management! This guide is designed to help you quickly onboard to our platform and get paid. VGCM is a payment tool built from the ground up to serve the unique needs of contractors and contingent workforces. We want it to be easy to manage your finances as a contractor so you can focus on your actual work!


Questions About Invitations and Getting Started

How does Velocity Global Contractor Management send me invitations?

VGCM sends you an invitation to join using the email you provided to your paying client from [email protected].

⚠️ Note: Invitation links are personalized to you. Do not share your link or use another person's invite link.

Why haven't I received an invitation from VGCM?

Your invitation might be in your spam or junk mail folder. If your payer doesn't have your current email, you might not get an invitation. You should check your other email accounts or update your email with your payer. If you still did not receive an invitation, you can request another invite email.

If you're expecting to receive a 1099-NEC from a payer, there might be other reasons you didn't get an invitation:

  • The total payments you received were less than $600

  • Your business type is excluded and doesn't need to file one

What happens if I don't sign up?

If you don't sign up and your client uses VGCM for payments, you may not be able to receive your pay. It is important to complete this process in a timely manner to receive your payments.

Do I need more than one account?

If you have multiple clients or payers using our platform to send payments or issue a 1099-NEC, you can continue using the same account—as long as you're operating under the same business entity and tax ID. To keep everything linked correctly moving forward, be sure to provide any new clients with the email address associated with your existing account. That way, their invite will connect to your current profile and all payments will be consolidated under the same account.

If you receive payments under different entities or tax IDs, you'll need a separate Wingspan account for each one. Be sure to inform your clients of the correct email address associated with the relevant Wingspan account, so the invitation is sent to the right email and linked to the correct account.

Does VGCM cost me anything?

No, it is free for you to use to receive your payouts through normal bank transfers. (A fee is charged for the optional Instant Payout feature.)

Why do I have to provide my SSN, EIN or other information to Wingspan?

VGCM collects critical information from you or your business to properly identify your tax obligations and verify your identity to ensure the safety and security of our platform. We use industry-leading security to keep your information secure.

Questions About Getting Paid

How long does it take to get paid?

Once an invoice moves into the “Deposited” status a standard payout typically takes 1-2 business days to arrive for a domestic payout, and 2-5 business days for an international payout.

You can request an Instant Payout that will arrive within 3-hours for a small fee as an alternative.

What ways can I get paid via VGCM?

Payments can be made to a bank account, debit card (via Instant Payouts) or your Wingspan Wallet.

You can change your payout method anytime you’d like! Learn how here.

Can I split my pay across more than one bank account?

VGCM is only able to pay out to one external bank account. In addition to that, you can split payments to your Wingspan Wallet and Tax Withholding accounts, if eligible.

What is Plaid? Is it safe to give my information to them?

Plaid is a platform that can securely connect to your banking institution to provide access to that information to a variety of apps or services like us. Many people use Plaid for convenience. The use of Plaid is not required.

Can I change the date I am paid?

Payout dates are set by your client. You can request an instant payout once an invoice has been processed.

Can VGCM help me with my taxes?

VGCM offers a Tax Withholdings tool that can help you set aside a percentage of your payments and, optionally, automatically send quarterly payments to the IRS. VGCM is not able to provide specific tax advice.

  • For example, if you want to know when an invoice will arrive.

If you have a question about the content of your invoice or if an invoice hasn’t yet appeared in the platform you should contact your client directly.

  • For example, if an invoice was supposed to be for $1000 but you only received $800.
